The Full Story

The Classic Pineapple Preserve started as a family recipe. We take hand-selected MD2 Gold pineapples — the sweetest, lowest-acid variety grown in the volcanic soil of the Philippines — and cut them into generous chunks before slow-cooking them in copper kettles. The MD2 variety has nearly 30% more natural sugar than conventional pineapples, which means we use far less added sugar than any competing preserve. The result is a thick, spreadable jam where you can taste the actual fruit, not just sweetness. Every jar contains roughly three whole pineapples worth of fruit. We cook in batches of no more than 40 jars at a time to maintain consistency and texture. The chunky style is intentional — we want you to bite into real pieces of pineapple on your toast, not a smooth, anonymous spread. This is the preserve that started Pinore, and it remains our best seller for a reason.
